Helpful Smartphone Apps for Notaries

A smartphone is an essential tool for a notary public or signing agent. Smartphones have the potential to make your life easier in a multitude of ways. Through your smartphone, you can organize your various appointments, make notes to yourself, and map out where you will be conducting business. We already utilize our phones for much of our everyday life, but you can also incorporate them into your business. This is not to say you can't be successful without a smartphone. Just that your efficiency in conducting business could drastically improve. There are a core set of apps that can aid you in your notary business.

Maps

As a notary, you will likely meet people from all over. As a mobile notary specifically, you are often venturing to suburbs or neighborhoods you have never been to before. Map apps will not only provide you a preview of the route, but conveniently direct you as you go. They can even re-route your course if you make a wrong turn. We recommend checking the directions with two different sites to see which one is better and to confirm the location. Google maps and mapquest are two of the most popular options.

Scan Documents

The scanning apps currently available are endless. These apps allow you to combine the functionality of a scanner with the convenience and accessibility of a cellphone. With these apps, you can send documents to your title company much faster after the notarial act is completed. Before utilizing a scanning app, you should check with your title company to ensure they are comfortable with you doing so.

Calendar

A calendar app allows you to have your entire schedule in one location. Google calendar is one of our favorites. It allows you to share appointments or your entire calendar with other people. If you have a mobile notary business with multiple agents, it’s a handy way for everyone to be constantly undated about the company’s availability. There are endless app options for you to take advantage of. Like any business addition, the use of smartphones make the company run a tad bit smoother and make your day-to-day that much easier.
